All About Jewellery Werx
Alexis (Lex) VanderVelden
Lex, the owner of and head instructor at Jewellery Werx, studied fine art in secondary school at H.B.Beal where she participted in the start up of "Bealart". Lex was also awarded the Maggy Creiderman Award in art and her sculpture was chosen to travel across Canada.
After starting out in the casting department of Bristol Jewellery in London, Ontario, Lex became well versed in the "lost wax" process of jewellery making. As a result, she has always been interested in that side of the silversmithing craft.
Lex is a member of the Brantford Lapidary Society, and along with having studied in Florida, she is also a member of the Manatee Art Center there.
Lex says, "Jewellery Werx is the best location in Southwestern Ontario where I can offer students a place to come and learn anything that is jewellery related.
In fact, we like to have classes going on all the time to bring out the creative side that everybody has, so you should book an appointment as soon as possible to assure yourself a spot (remember, we keep the classes very small). At Jewellery Werx, I have the tools, the supplies and the teachers that I need to give every student a positive learning experience."
